Equity Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court in Abuja has gone out of the nation as the 12 confined helpers of Yoruba Nation instigator, Sunday Adeyemo, prominently known as Sunday Igboho, met all their bail conditions.
The prisoners’ legal advisor, Pelumi Olajengbesi, said that Justice Egwuatu should sign the delivery warrant of his customers today yet the bail office of the court educated him that the managing judge went out of the country without prior warning.
The court had requested each of the 12 prisoners to get two guarantees, making it an aggregate of 24 guarantees. The prisoners had gotten the guarantees last week yet the bail office of the court said it expected to compose letters to the workplaces of the 24 guarantees to get more affirmation.
Olajengbesi said the affirmation of the guarantees had been finished, adding that he was at the bail office of the court on Tuesday trusting that the appointed authority will sign the delivery request of his customers however he was informed that Justice Egwuatu had gone out.
“We have met all the bail conditions and the agent recorder at the bail office has marked an update with that impact. In any case, I was told by the bail office that the appointed authority that will sign their delivery request has gone out desperately for a seminar and won’t return till the following week,” the prisoners’ attorney told our reporter.
DSS agents had captured the 12 people on July 1, 2021, during a strike on Igboho’s Ibadan home around 1 am.
The associates are Abdullateef Onaolapo, Tajudeen Irinloye, Dikeola Ademola, Ayobami Donald, Uthman Adelabu, Olakunle Oluwapelumi, Raji Kazeem, and Taiwo Tajudeen; while the four assistants are Amudat Babatunde, Abideen Shittu, Jamiu Oyetunji, and Bamidele Sunday.
Equity Egwuatu had on August 4, 2021 conceded the 12 candidates to bail.
The 12 people have gone through around 50 days in the care of the mysterious police in Abuja yet the DSS through its attorney, Idowu Awo recorded a remand application, requesting that the court invalidate the bail prior conceded to four of the 12 confined partners of Igboho.
